Green travel
- We are happy to support you in arriving by public transport as well as in the use of public mobility on site in the sense of a positive CO2 balance and a CO2-free vacation in Saalbach.
- Arrival by train: We are happy to pick up our guests from the train station in Zell am See free of charge.
- We offer our guests arriving with an e-car the possibility of four e-charging stations in front of the hotel.
- Free use of the hotel's own ski shuttle in winter.

Sustainable vacation with sustainable cuisine
- Many of our products are sourced from local farmers, some of them certified organic, such as vegetables, salads, meat, grains or juices, which keeps the added value in the region.
- We cook in an energy-saving and conscious way, which keeps the food digestible and vital.
- Only non-genetically modified products are used in our kitchen.
- We use only one main supplier.
- We are AMA certified. For AMA quality seal products there are quality requirements that go well beyond the legal requirements and are checked with objective methods.
- We are at "Too good to go". The principle of the app: restaurants and grocery stores offer their leftover food at a lower price instead of throwing it away. This ensures more sustainable business practices for the suppliers and cheaper meals for the customers.
- We serve wild meat from our own hunts. Because game meat from local hunting grounds is subject to strict regulations such as shooting and closed seasons.
- We only serve Fairtrade coffee, because the Fairtrade seal identifies products that have been produced in accordance with social, ecological and economic criteria. Fairtrade is a holistic approach to sustainably improve the livelihoods of small farmers and employees in the global south.
Room
- We clean with steam at 100 °C. This means that no unnecessary water is wasted - only as much is used as is necessary for cleaning. Sustainable, as no wastewater contaminated by chemicals is flushed into the sewage system and thus in the water cycle.
- We only use Hollu's eco-cleaning agents. With the hollueco product line, sustainable, high-quality cleaning is possible throughout the property. These cleaning agents have multiple certifications, including the Austrian Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel.
- Green Day: We ask our guests to forgo room cleaning for stays of several days in order to save water, cleaning agents and electricity.
- There is also no need to buy shampoos and shower gels in small travel bottles for a short vacation. We have convenient dispensers on site that are refillable.
- Our bath slippers are unpackaged, but of course you are welcome to bring your own slippers for a sustainable vacation.
Eco-friendly vacation at Hotel DIE SONNE
- We only use electricity from renewable energy sources. Approximately 85% comes from hydropower, the rest from other green energy sources.
- Consistent waste separation throughout the hotel
- We avoid buying plastic.
- We use sustainable drinking straws - organic straws made of glass, bamboo or stainless steel.
- The effort for a sustainable future is also reflected in the appearance of employee clothing. These are made from high quality and sustainable fabrics.
- Equipping all lamps with energy-saving LEDs
- Magnesium water & glass bottles: For our environment, we have made our house a "BOTTLE FREE ZONE". We use the tap water available on site, treat it with the patented BWT technology and serve you the refreshing BWT Magnesium Mineralized Water. In other words, bottled water no longer has to be transported to us by truck. And in the end, we also create less waste this way, making a significant contribution to reducing our carbon footprint.
